Ruling Parties Agree on Early Endorsement of Ordinances

Kathmandu: The top leaders of Nepal’s ruling coalition have reached an agreement to endorse recently issued ordinances at the earliest in both Houses of the federal parliament.

A meeting of the ruling coalition, held at the official residence of the Prime Minister, decided to fast-track the endorsement process, according to Minister for Home Affairs, Ramesh Lekhak. He stated that the government would also expedite procedural work to ensure the swift passage of pending bills.

"The ordinances will be taken forward based on our agreement. This issue will be sorted in a positive manner," Minister Lekhak assured. He added that replacement bills for the ordinances would be introduced after discussions with all political parties.

The Minister also confirmed that an understanding had been reached with the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) regarding the endorsement process.

The meeting further discussed the effectiveness of government activities and the role of parliamentarians from ruling parties in legislative affairs.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli, Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba, and UML Senior Vice-Chairperson Ishwor Pokharel. Other leaders present included NC Vice-Chairman Purna Bahadur Khadka, JSP Chairman Ashok Kumar Rai, Loktantrik Samajbadi Party Chairman Mahanth Thakur, Nagarik Unmukti Party Chairwoman Ranjita Shrestha, and Janamat Party Vice-Chairman Abdul Khan, among others.
